Terms of Use
Effective 21 September 2026
These terms apply when you download, install or use Gleam, the desktop app for Windows made by Brian Mwai ("we", "us"). By installing or using Gleam you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not install or use it.
1. Your licence to use Gleam
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and run the official Gleam installer published by us, on devices you own or control, for your own personal or internal business use, free of charge.
Gleam is proprietary. We keep all rights in the software, its source code, design, prompts and documentation, and in the Gleam name, mascot and logo. Except where the law says you may, you must not copy, publish, sell, rent or sublicense Gleam; modify it or build on it; reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it; remove its notices; use the Gleam name, mascot or logo; or use it to build, train or evaluate a competing product. The full licence text is on the Licence page and is shown by the installer.
2. Your keys, your accounts, your costs
Gleam connects to AI and voice services (such as Anthropic, OpenAI, NVIDIA, Groq and Fish Audio) through accounts, keys or subscriptions that you hold yourself. You are responsible for those accounts, for keeping your keys safe, for what those services charge you, and for following their terms and usage policies. We are not a party to your agreements with them.
3. Gleam acts on your computer
Gleam can see your screen and, when you ask, move the mouse, click, type, open apps and websites on your computer. You are responsible for the actions you ask for and approve. Screen actions that send, post, delete, buy, install or deploy wait for your approval; read what is being approved before you allow it. Press Esc to stop Gleam at any time. Do not leave Gleam acting unattended on accounts, files or systems where a mistake would be costly.
4. Acceptable use
Do not use Gleam to break the law, to access systems or data you are not allowed to, to harm, harass, deceive or spy on people, to get around security measures, or in a way that breaks the terms of the services you connect it to. Do not use it for decisions with legal or similarly serious effects on people without a human checking the result.
5. AI output
Gleam and your experts are powered by AI models. Their answers, notes, sketches, summaries and actions can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, and characters speak in character. Check anything important before you rely on it. Nothing Gleam says is professional advice, including legal, medical, financial or tax advice, even from an expert you have named a lawyer or a doctor.
6. Characters and content you add
You are responsible for the pictures, voices, names and content you add to Gleam. Characters from shows and films belong to their owners; if you cast one, keep it for your own private use and do not share it in a way that suggests it is endorsed by its owner.
7. Updates and availability
We may update Gleam, change or remove features, or stop distributing it. We do not promise that Gleam will be available, compatible with every setup, or free of errors.
8. No warranty
Gleam is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.
9. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, revenue or goodwill, or for charges from third-party services, arising from your use of Gleam. Our total liability for any claim relating to Gleam is limited to the amount you paid us for it, which is zero. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
10. Ending these terms
You can stop at any time by uninstalling Gleam. Your licence ends automatically if you break these terms. Sections 1 (our rights), 5, 8, 9 and 11 continue after the end.
11. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. The courts of Kenya have jurisdiction over any dispute, without taking away any rights you have under the consumer laws of the country where you live.
12. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The current version is always on this page with its effective date. If you keep using Gleam after a change, the new terms apply.
